Dental Implant Restoration
Many patients are surprised to learn that there is a replacement for missing teeth that acts, looks and even feels like one of your natural teeth: dental implants.
A dental implant is a titanium post that is positioned into the jawbone beneath the gum line that allows your dentist to place a permanent crown or bridge. An implant can also serve as a post for securing dentures.
The ‘root’ portion of the implant is placed by a specialist called an Oral Surgeon and the ‘crown,’ or the visible portion of the tooth, is placed right here at Madison Lakes Dental.
Implants are so well designed that they mimic the look and feel of natural teeth. Dental implants are usually made of a synthetic, yet biocompatible material like metal or ceramic.
In order for a dental implant to take hold, a candidate must have proper bone density and have a strong immune system. In all cases, dental implants require diligent oral hygiene.
